The Perkiomen Valley School District is currently looking for talented, flexible individuals to work as Substitute Teacher Aides to assist in classrooms throughout our district schools. Willingness to work with special education students at all levels is required for this position.
This position provides a work schedule that allows for significant flexibility on a week to week, on-call basis, though regular availability is helpful.
Duties and Responsibilities May Include:
- Working with students individually or in small groups for extension or remediation
- Providing extra help as needed to students with physical, mental, or linguistic limitations
- Supervising bus loading and unloading or car rider drop-off and pick-up
- Taking daily class attendance and maintain accurate attendance records
- Supporting students with assistive devices and supportive technologies
- Coordinating with classroom teachers to determine daily tasks
- Adhering to accommodations in students’ IEPs and 504 plans
- Leading activities designed to foster students’ mental, physical, and social development
- Supervising students in various settings including classrooms, playgrounds, and field trips
- Enforcing school rules and policies
Requirements and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate’s degree in education or related field preferred
- At least one year of relevant experience in an educational or childcare setting preferred
- Exemplary written and spoken communication skills
- Strong collaboration skills; able to work well with a team
- Effective multitasker; can prioritize tasks based on importance and deadlines
- Must pass background check before starting employment
$14.00/hour; no benefits
